Share your faith with the children of our parish. Being a catechist requires a commitment to be present at Religious Education class each Sunday morning to teach for 1 hour & 15 minutes. An additional commitment of preparation time to plan lessons is also necessary. Most catechists work in pairs and take turns leading lessons from week to week. There are no prerequisites other than an enjoyment in working with children and a desire to assist them in their faith development. Training and support are provided as needed.
Elementary Religious Education Substitute Catechist:
As dedicated as our catechists are, there are times when substitute catechists are needed. If you would like to teach but don’t want to commit to a weekly class, this is for you!
Elementary Religious Education Office Assistant:
On Sunday mornings, office assistants will help record class attendance, prepare crafts, etc. Training is provided.
Children’s Liturgy of the Word Facilitator:
Each week at the 9:30 Mass in the Lower Church, the children in attendance leave in a group with our volunteers to go to a separate room during the Liturgy of the Word so that they may hear the Word of God on their own level of understanding. Those interested in sharing the Word of God with our youngest parishioners are encouraged to become facilitators. Materials and training are provided.
Sacramental Prep. Volunteer:
Much help is needed at our First Reconciliation and First Eucharist Workshops. This is a total commitment of about 10 hours for the entire year. Help is needed to set up, facilitate activities and clean up. Training is provided.
SPXtreme! Volunteer:
Volunteers are needed the week of SPXtreme! both in the morning with the elementary students and/or in the afternoon with the middle and high school students. Responsibilities include set up, assisting with various crafts, games, activities, service projects and clean up.
Behind the Scenes Volunteer:
These volunteers are essential to the success of our many programs. If you want to volunteer, but do not want the time commitment of a catechist position, this one is for you! Volunteers are always needed to help prepare crafts from home, set up for an event, serve food, clean up, etc.
All volunteers who work with children MUST be STAND certified, per the Archdiocese of Baltimore.
